If you're looking to take responsibility for an accounting and operations department at a successful company, Robert Half Finance is looking for a Corporate Controller. The Corporate Controller position is a full-time opportunity in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff, will be preferred for this position. If you can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, and are a creative type who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo, you might be right for this position. Major responsibilities:

- Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

- Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

- Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team

- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly

- Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

- Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

- Direct Finance Department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

- Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

- Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

- Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports

Job Requirements

- Exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills

- Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

- Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

- Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

- CPA/MBA preferred

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

- Monthly Financial Reporting experience

- Proven knowledge of variance analysis

- Strong familiarity with budget forecasting

- Foundational knowledge in Year-end Financial Statements

- General familiarity with Process Improvement

- Risk Assessment experience

- Good understanding of Manufacturing Cost Accounting

- Well-founded grasp of Operational Reporting

- Practical knowledge of Corporate Tax Compliance

- Annual Financial Reporting experience

- Quality experience with Microsoft Office

- Wide ranging experience with US GAAP

- Earlier work involving provincial taxes

- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

- High attention to detail

- Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

- Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

- Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued
