Robert Half Finance's new Controller opening will give you the opportunity to take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department at a successful company. The Controller position is a full-time opportunity in the Cambridge, Ontario region. Responsibilities include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. Candidates who know how to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will do well in this role along with creative types who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Responsibilities

- Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

- Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

- Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction

- Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

- Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

- Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

- Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

- Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

- Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation

- Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

- Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Job Requirements
- Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required

- Detailed and have the ability work independently

- Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

- CPA

- Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

- Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued

- Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

- Critical thinking skills and the ability to retain complex work directions

- Knowledge of Job Costing, progress billing, and construction liens

- Proficiency in month end closings

- Construction Accounting experience desired

- Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills

- Vow to meet business deadlines

- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
