We are currently recruiting for a full time Controller for a South Surrey based client. As Controller, you will be directing the overall financial function, overseeing all financial & accounting systems through transactions, reporting, analysis, compliance, and management. In this role, you are responsible for Cash Management, Accounting, Forecasting, Finance, and Review activities for the organization. Your duties will include maintaining an internal control environment to ensure compliance, corporate policies and procedures for general accounting operations, and setting up new systems and policies to support the growth of the company.

Responsibilities

Manage an accounting team of 6 direct reports
Preparation of monthly financial reporting, management reporting and analysis
Cash flow and working capital management
Annual budget and variance analysis; rolling forecast updated monthly
Prepare appropriate and relevant detailed analysis to assess company performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Effective team player of senior management team while participating in strategy discussions and initiatives.
Responsible for the finance function and securing on-going financing as required
Active participation in management of timing and budget of capital expenditures, capital project implementation, including capital asset management.
Analysis of cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business decisions and identify potential improvements.
Oversee all full-cycle accounting processes performed by accounting team.
Processing/reviewing payroll and group benefits administration. Preparing payroll, GST and related remittances.
Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with ASPE; yearend preparation and liaising with external accounting firm
Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards
Coordinate changes and improvements in financial and management information systems for the company.
Job Requirements
What you will bring with you:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA a plus. CPA desirable.
5+ years’ Accounting experience
Experience in managing people and teams
Expertise in cost accounting
Experience working in a small, lean organization, with broad responsibilities
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ASPE
Analysis and implementation of significant capital projects
Excellent Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel), and knowledge of accounting systems
Excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, interpersonal, and relationship building skills
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, including excellent verbal and written communication skills
