You might be the Controller Robert Half Finance is looking for, if you want to take responsibility for the accounting and clerical department of a successful company. The full-time Controller position is situated in the St. Marys, Ontario area. To succeed in this role, you will need to plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. What you get to do every day

- Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

- Be a key player in driving the business forward, assessing business needs and completing forecasting and analysis of profitability

- Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

- Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

- Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

- Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

- Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

- Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities

- Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

- Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Job Requirements
- Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

- Solid understanding of month end closings

- Budget forecasting experience required

- System Implementation experience

- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing

- CPA required

- Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

- Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued

- Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

- Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

- Experience working in a manufacturing company

- Skilled in analytical, quantitative and social skills

- Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

- Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
