Are you looking for an exciting, dynamic opportunity to work with a leading global Pharmaceutical company? Our client, located in the Downtown Toronto core, is recruiting for a Financial Controller. In this role you will be looked upon as the Finance expert and will lead the reporting standards, statutory accounting and controlling for their Canadian operations.

The principle responsibilities involved for the Financial Controller will include:

* Lead and coordinate all activities, processes and systems ensuring generally accepted accounting standards are applied across the financial departments and are adhered to in the preparation of all financial statements and reports.

• Provide accounting advice and guidance to Canada’s Finance team
• Effectively guide and collaborate with Finance and multiple cross-functional teams through business integration
• Lead and manage SOX initiatives to ensure internal controls are compliant
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes to increase finance effectiveness
• Lead profitability analytics and forecasting in liaison with global tax and external tax support
• Statutory Accounts, Government statistics and submissions, Corporation tax & VAT compliance
• Manage Balance sheet review
• Act as a key contact for integration projects such as ERP systems integration, legal entity consolidation, other finance projects
• Coordinate the month, quarter and year end close activities
• Harmonize the revenue recognition and other accounting principles
• Support transfer pricing process in coordination with global counterparts.
• Liaise with internal and external audit partners
• Together with procurement team, create awareness in the commercial organization for timely recognition of expenses.


About You:

* Canadian accounting designation CPA, CA, CMA, CGA is mandatory
* 10 or more years accounting experience with progressive responsibilities
* Pharma or CPG industry mandatory
* Proven experience implementing process improvements, system integrations and SOX controls
* Strong analytical thinking with the ability to formulate and understand business issues, interpret data and draw conclusions and provide focused guidelines
* Strong customer service focus in order to liaise effectively with cross functional teams globally
* Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and knowledge of SAP, Cognos and Hyperion
