The Construction Manager will work with the Construction Management team to ensure the construction of multi-family residential developments are executed on budget, according to the established schedule. The role will work closely with the organization to ensure feasibility and costing of projects, while maintaining the integrity of design. This position will supervise Site Superintendents for the assigned region.

RESPONSIBILITIES

        
  • Assist with the initial mobilization and set up of new construction sites
  •     
  • Manage building and project dates and project close out
  •     
  • Ensure all contractual issues are resolved and dealt with in a timely manner
  •     
  • Provide construction direction and oversight to Site Superintendents
  •     
  • Identify and resolve conflicts within project teams and associate work; create contingency plans to mitigate risk
  •     
  • Oversee total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule
  •     
  • Assist in the resolution of design issues, change requests, material defects and equipment problems
  •     
  • Plan, implement and monitor construction plans
  •     
  • Assist with estimates and budget development for projects
  •     
  • Ensure that safe work practices and procedures are being followed onsite at all time
  •     
  • Monitor and oversee quality control measures on worksites
  •     
  • Pursue cost effective alternative measures to improve financial performance on projects
REQUIREMENTS

        
  • Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in 4-storey, wood-frame, multi-family residential construction
  •     
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management preferred
  •     
  • Travel throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan as required
  •     
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all building techniques, building codes, and safety regulations associated with the construction of multi-story apartment buildings
  •     
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and architectural schematics
  •     
  • Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills
  •     
  • Demonstrated ability in decision making and taking ownership of actions
  •     
  • Results-oriented with the ability to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and time lines
  •     
  • Knowledge in civil construction considered an asset
