Classification: Accounting Manager/Supervisor

Compensation: $55000.00 to $65000.00 yearly

Robert Half is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager who is eager to thrive and grow with one of our clients in the Downtown Ottawa area. The successful candidate would need experience in management and will have to work under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities in this role:

• Oversee the functions of the Accounts Payable department, including workloads.
• Update training materials and departmental procedures as needed.
• Provide troubleshooting support to all AP personnel.
• Plan and conduct meetings with AP staff to ensure compliance with established practices.
• Update AP staff with new policies, changes, and current standards.
• Ensure an accurate understanding of company policies in relation to allowances, expenses, and direct payments.
• As required answer queries and complaints from vendors.
• Review and investigate invoices.
• Investigate and resolve any tax issues with respect to purchase orders and invoices.
• Establishment of procedures and processes.
• Plan and participate in upgrades to the system.
• Lead and participate in the year-end audit process.
• Contributions to special projects as they arise.

Qualifications:
• A post-secondary degree in business or accounting or enrolled in the CPA program is considered an asset.
• Bilingualism would be an asset
• 3-5 years' experience in a similar role.
• Ability to manage personnel.
• Excellent computer skills, in particular, the use of Excel and Great Plains Management Reporter, would be an asset.
• Ability to communicate both in writing and orally with staff and other functional groups.
