Our client, based in the Surrey/Delta area, is hiring an experienced construction Accountant whose primary focus will be on project billings/progress draws. This role will appeal to an individual who is a self-starter, who excels at problem solving as it relates to inconsistencies and issues arising from project accounting. You will have complete control in the preparation of project analysis including AR, AP reconciliation against each job, project budgets, cash flow forecasting, generation and review of project cost reports. Reporting to the Controller, the AR Collections (Project) Accountant will be responsible for receivables, collections, billings, reporting, analysis and supporting the accounting team. Administration skills *Prepare monthly progress draw includes billings and backup documentation. *Perform collection calls and follow up with customer accounts. *Assist and respond to inquiries from external / internal customers. * Effectively communicate with project managers regarding contract documents, change orders and other contract modifications, approvals and any additional services related to billings. * Ensure month end deadlines and reporting requirements are met. * Identify and resolve inconsistencies and issues with project managers. * Follow up on payment certifications and closing project documentation. * Review project related payables and investigate any PO discrepancies. * Initiate new project set-ups * File and manage project records. * Generate and analysis which would include project budgets, cash flow forecasts, and generation and review of project cost reports. * Assist in weekly / monthly project forecasting. * Monitor cash and provide daily cash received * Provide assistance with the preparation of quarterly financial forecasts and annual budget if required. * Assist / support the accounting team as needed, along with ad-hoc requests and projects as assigned.


A minimum of five years in a construction accounting role will provide the knowledge and depth required for you to excel in this role. Your familiarity with MMCD and CCDC documents, and project close out protocols will help you relate to the role in a seamless fashion. Qualifications *Undergraduate degree or diploma in accounting *Strong A/R and A/P background within construction or high-volume accounting environment * Excellent Excel skills *Familiar with ERP systems, preferably QuickBooks or Sage 300 * Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges * Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills * Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in challenging, fast paced environment * A compliant nature and able to follow legislation * Basic computer knowledge and quick typing skills * Superior written and verbal communication skills * Strong work ethic and sense of responsibility and confidentiality All interested and qualified candidates are invited to apply through your Robert Half Finance Recruiting Manager, referencing job order number 05150-0010837711 or contacting [Click Here to Email Your Resumé] directly.
