We are working with one of Canada’s most well-known General Contractor & Construction Management organizations to find a Chief Estimator to join and lead the estimating team. Working in collaboration with the project management and preconstruction team, we are looking for someone who understands that building projects and building relationships goes hand in hand. The role would suit someone who is prepared to be responsible for, and provide the day-to-day leadership, strategy and direction to the estimating team. Our client offers a unique opportunity to work on challenging, high-profile projects whilst offering a competitive compensation package.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that team estimates are completed in an accurate and timely manner, as well as review all final estimate packages.
  • Reach out and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Manage department functions which can include; budgets, workforce planning and allocating project work assignments.
  • Working with clients and nurturing a relationship to ensure a solid understanding of their needs beyond that of the project to encourage the longevity of the relationship.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to the estimating team, providing feedback and identify development opportunities.
  • Provide detailed take-offs, project budgets and cost plans.
  • Prepare and coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design-build, lump sum or general tender for a range of different projects.
  • Assist in securing new project work by taking part in proposals and presentations and providing leads to Business Development teams.
  • Keep up to date with the current market trends, and develop effective bid strategies to ensure the on-going project drive of the organisation.
  • Represent the organisation at company-sponsored and industry events, when required.
Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience working as an Estimator on large construction projects
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing a team in a project environment
  • Relevant university or college diploma in construction/engineering
  • Previous experience networking or demonstrated business development experience
  • Previous use of Procore is ideal but not essential
