Design Group Staffing is currently searching for a Project Manager to work a long-term contract position for one of our Edmonton based client.

The successful candidate will be managing multi million dollar project and provide support in making decisions on scope, estimated costs, general contractors, materials, during the construction season. Project Manager will coordinate communication, problem solve, ensure the engineering firm and general contractor are meeting their obligations, oversee work. Also, responsible for coordinating between the General Contractor, the design Engineering Company, the Property Manager, the Board and individual condo owners. This role will report directly to the Board.

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Project and construction management experience with $10 million projects
  • Detail oriented and well organized
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Experience in tender preparation, submission, and evaluation
  • Knowledge of local construction contracting, engineering, and permitting requirements
  • Experience working with design team and constructability review
  • Leadership – Excellent planning, strategic thinking, leadership and problem-solving skills in achieving goals.
  • Communication and Relationship Management
Requirements:

  • At least five years of $10 million+ project management experience that includes working with both design and construction teams.
  • Minimum five years of experience in commercial and housing construction.
  • Knowledge of commercial, specifically condominium, construction practices, techniques, pricing, and trends is critical. Experience with building envelope performance issues and major repairs will be a significant asset.
  • Experience in contract management, construction change order scope, construction contract scope, cost estimation, progress and administration.
  • Experience in safety management and implementation.
  • Proven track record in completing projects safely, on time and on budget.
  • Knowledge of condominium legislation, condominium bylaws and processes, municipal bylaws and permitting related to commercial renovations is considered an asset.
