The work you will do

As the Corporate Subject Matter Expert for Canadian payroll, you will process payroll for all salaried employees across Canada.

You will also provide analytical and technical support to field / plant payroll and HR staff.  This includes but is not limited to expertise and knowledge of payroll calculations and system nuances.

You will participate and support the development of sustainable training and communication programs for management and end users by providing subject matter or technical expertise of the time and attendance and payroll systems.

This position requires an experienced, self-motivated individual who possesses the ability to assist with large complex projects and lead small assignments minimal supervision.

To be successful in this role superior interpersonal, organization and communication skills are needed.

Highlights of your new role



  • Responsible for processing payroll and all related reporting for Corporate Salaried employees in Canada.



  • Knowledge of complex payroll calculations such as hypothetical tax and executive pay



  • Must be process-focused to ensure continuous improvement in payroll/timekeeping and related systems (e.g. HRIS, GL).



  • Liaise with system vendors and Woodbridge Payroll/Finance groups.



  • Identifies and communicates issues and risks to management as required; assesses and recommends options to resolve issues.



  • Runs and develops reports from time and attendance/payroll systems and reviews data integration ensure information is accurately processed and recorded per union contracts and company policies.



  • Manages the weekly HRIS interfaces to payroll and other related system interfaces.



  • Researches issues and performs root cause analysis to understand discrepancies in the processing or accuracy of data. Documents identified process gaps and works with management to recommend solutions.



  • Strong understanding of linkages of payroll to Total Compensation programs.



  • Will develop expert user level knowledge in HRIS and provide support to HRIS projects.



  • Provide support to HR community for system usage and reporting templates.



What will you bring



  • 4-5 years of experience with Canadian and USA payroll.



  • PCP or CPM  designation or working towards professional payroll certification.



  • Experience working with a mainstream time and attendance technology.



  • Proven experience leading multi-location projects related to payroll processing.



  • Must have experience in ADP Pay@Work, PayForce and related payroll processing routines.



  • Understanding of technical concepts and ability or willingness to learn technical skills.



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and end-user training ability.
