Robert Half Finance is searching for an efficient Accounting Clerk for a well-known organization in the Rental/Leasing Services industry. Candidate will be expected to successfully match invoices to purchase orders and/or vouchers, data entry and assist in the process of Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R). This full-time Accounting Clerk position is located in the Hamilton, Ontario, area.

Your responsibilities

- Accurately code documents with expenditure codes and accounting codes

- Assist with general accounting tasks, including G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing, and other ad hoc projects

- Handle Accounts Receivable tasks: process daily invoices/credit, apply cash receipt, and help with collection of past due balance

- Carry out additional related duties and help with special projects on an as-needed basis

- Manually or electronically post financial information

- File vendor invoices and disbursements and match & file A/P invoices to support accounts payable

- Use a variety of sources to prepare statements and reports

- Reconcile discrepancies, and prepare correction documents as needed, by checking all possible sources of disagreement, reconstructing probable actions, and recognizing the effect on other accounts

Job Requirements

- AA or BS/BA in Accounting or related field preferred

- Prior experience in Spreadsheet and ERP system

- Ability to multitask and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds

- 1+ years of accounting experience required

- Excellent data entry skills

- Deep understanding of account reconciliation

- Journal entries experience desired

- Bank reconciliations experience preferred

- Month end closings experience preferred
