Robert Half Finance and Accounting is looking for an Accounting Technician/Bookkeeper to place with one of their clients. The position would be offered on a full-time term. This Accounting Technician/Bookkeeper position would be best suited for someone that has 5+ year experience working in public practice industry, that is organized and self-driven accounting professionals that are seeking a role with a deadline-driven environment and minimal supervision. In this Accounting Technician/ Bookkeeper role, you will prepare working paper files, prepare working papers and financial statements, month-end closing, compilation of corporate tax returns, HST and bookkeeping for small business clients. Furthermore, the Accounting Technician/ Bookkeeper is responsible for dealing with various clients on and off site including a full cycle A/P, data entry, cash applications, coding, light journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation. This Accounting Technician/ Bookkeeper opportunity will be located in the Vaughan, Ontario area and will be a full-time position. Qualified candidates should apply as soon as possible!
Your responsibilities in this role
- Compilation of corporate and personal tax returns
- Preparing working paper files and financial statements
- Monthly account reconciliation
- Corroborate monthly accounting close-
- Work on special projects occasionally
- Organize sales tax records HST and create and file quarterly payments
- Ready monthly reconciliations, financial statements and all supporting documents
- Proficient in credit card management and reconciliation
- Look after general ledger
- Detailed and have the ability to work independently
- Noteworthy accounting experience, including as a Bookkeeper preferred
- Self-starter and strong ethical standards
- T1 & T2 experience
- Strong familiarity with Accrued Expenses
- Foundational knowledge in Compilation
- General familiarity with bookkeeping
- Practical knowledge of GST taxes
- Well-founded grasp of QuickBooks, Caseware and Taxprep
- Quality experience with Preparing Trial Balance
- Proven knowledge of T4
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are a must
- Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- 5+ years of related experience
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and vendor management skills
- Industry Experience in Public practice is preferred
- Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
