Robert Half Finance is looking for an extraordinary Financial Analyst to join a well established firm. In addition to measuring, analyzing, and forecasting performance in conjunction with operating plans, you will conduct financial modeling on a variety of financial products in this Financial Analyst role. In addition to preparing reports for management, you will help advise management on the distribution of resources to best complete objectives. Forecasting, performance reporting, and expense management will be some of your focus areas as a business partner on this team. As the Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting world class strategic and financial planning methods, building long-range operating plans to support business imperatives and developing rolling forecast processes to ensure resources every quarter are consumed at maximum effectiveness. Along with your main responsibilities, you will assist with operationalizing and cultivating a more data-driven planning process and improved monthly and quarterly reporting. In this role, you will be directly involved in the coordination of various planning cycles (annual planning, quarterly forecasts and monthly outlooks), while providing strategic analyses and recommendations. You will provide variance analysis of bookings, revenues and expenses, clearly explaining the business reasons for variances and adjusting the outlook models to reflect operational adjustments. This Financial Analyst role is located west of London, Ontario, and it is a full-time employment opportunity.

Major responsibilities

- Have a thorough understanding of internal and external drivers and be able to explain how they are impacting performance and trending

- Work with senior executives on strategic deep dives by developing financial models and insights on topics such as: Retention forecasts, Campaign Planning & Tracking, return on investment of strategic investments, strategic resource allocation and prioritization, and event tracking and execution

- Collaborate with the Accounting team on the monthly and quarterly financial close process

- Survey performance to date and assess potential opportunities and risks

- Track monthly and quarterly performance through comparison of actuals versus expectations and enable business partners to handle their resources

- An ideal candidate should be highly flexible, comfortable with large amounts of information, and adept at managing expectations

- Lead monthly reporting to business partners on financial results and if any actions are required

- Enable effective Business Intelligence (BI) to provide forward-looking insight and decision support

- Work alongside cross-functional partners in Accounting and Operations to ensure plans are properly executed

- Complete and direct forecasting reports

- Drive Area/Segment-level Bookings on a weekly, quarterly and annual basis, as well as P&L forecasting
- BA/BS degree in finance or a related field

- Spreadsheet and ERP system experience suggested

- Background in problem solving through statistical analysis or with large data sets highly valued (such as in derivatives, structured finance, or business analytics or in a similarly demanding and analytical role)

- Sound written and verbal communication skills

- Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

- Proficiency with Business Intelligence (BI) reporting tools required

- Financial planning & analysis (go-to-market experience considered)

- 3+ years of experience in problem solving through statistical analysis or with large data sets highly preferable (such as in derivatives, structured finance, or business analytics or in a similarly demanding and analytical role)

- Active problem-solver who listens for customer cues and actively resolves problems with grace and integrity

- Expertise in budgeting

- PeopleSoft Financial Management experience

- Microsoft Excel experience highly desired

- Financial reporting experience

- Solid understanding of budgeting
