Full Time / Day Shift

Under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager, the Silk Screen Technical Lead is responsible for set-up and processing, functionality of the all Deco department, employees and machinery/equipment. Makes adjustment, troubleshoots and performs preventive maintenance to plant machinery / equipment. Is responsible for changeovers, making screens for artwork. Willing to learn new process and should be hands on. Troubleshoots the equipment to ensure that quality products are being run constantly. Orders parts for equipment and materials needed for artwork and screens. Proactively, identifies and drives efficiency and scrap reduction across the department.

The Silk Screen Technical Lead will be responsible for exercising judgement when abnormal instances occur.

Specific Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  1. The Deco Lead oversees the functions of all production within their department and activities, ensure compliance to all performance and safety standards.
  2. Adheres to Amcor Rigid Plastics Safety and Quality policies and procedures.
  3. Support the safety of all employees in the department.  Support the focus on safety to prevent injury.  Support compliance with federal, provincial, local and Amcor regulations.
  4. Work with the production planner to prepare deco department schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  5. Serve as the department contact person for all safety, production, quality and employee relations issues.
  6. Communicate with the Operations Manager any safety production, or performance issues that arise.
  7. Assist with training, directing , and mentoring a diverse group of employees.
  8. Support continuous improvement initiatives in the department such as 6S, lean manufacturing, etc.
  9. Support quality initiatives to ensure product meets or exceeds customer expectation.
  10. Assist in building productive employee relationships, which drive employee satisfaction.  Provide direction, training, and assistance as needed.  Provide coaching as needed.
  11. Serve as the department contact person who notifies management when decisions are required or when emergencies occur.
  12. Schedules employees on machines/assignments as required.
  13. Monitor overall department line operation while complying with safety, quality, production, and housekeeping standards by:
    1. Verifying operating conditions and settings against Process Set-up Sheet and Shop Order.
    2. Doing appropriate quality checks.
    3. Auditing the line for cleanliness and orderliness when your takeover from the previous shift. 
  14. Maintain required documentation and read available documentation posted at the line (previous shift notes/log, checklists, Quality Alerts, Line Notes etc.).
  15. Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates to plan facility operations.
  16. Maintaining production efficiencies and scrap minimization and is responsible for the Scrap Reduction Reports and Team efforts to reduce Scrap and increase efficiencies.
  17. Perform a complete Preventive Maintenance audit on all equipment.  Must be able to lubricate, inspect and record conditions of wear and tear.
  18. Work with the maintenance group to identify mechanical opportunities and improve capabilities
  19. Alert management and appropriate personnel of any deviations from standard or normal operating conditions.
  20. Perform/ coordinate changeovers as required.
  21. Perform/coordinate screen changes as required.
  22. Replace, without assistance or supervision, normal equipment wear parts.

  1. Troubleshoot all aspects of bottle quality and bottle handling problems.
  2. Read and interpret bottle specification sheets and all quality data sheets.
  3. Order parts and supplies for Deco Department to ensure orders stay on schedule
  4. Assist with new product trials/sampling when needed.
  5. All other duties as assigned
