Agilus is recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer in the Heavy Industrial Manufacturing Industry in Edmonton, Alberta. Permanent opportunity working for a well recognized producer of High Pressure Piping and accessories. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) using Solidworks
  • Assures product and process quality by designing, testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors
  • Implement lean principles and work cooperatively with the production group to improve efficiencies
  • Prepare time studies and line balances using lean principles after the job is awarded and work with the production group to efficiently run the job on the shop floor
Requirements:
  • An Engineering degree in a related discipline with preference given to those with an Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering background
  • Must be a P.Eng
  • Design background in manufacturing including problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Previous experience with 3D solid modeling and 2D drafting required (Solidworks preferred)
  • Knowledge and experience of fabrication, machining and welding process of jigs and fixtures
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and relevant specifications including weld symbols
  • 5 -10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with preference given to those that have experience with design and development of processes and equipment
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, project management and six sigma
