Proposal and Marketing Content Specialist

The Opportunity:

Edsembli is seeking a seasoned professional to join their commercial team as a Proposal and Marketing Content Specialist. The company is a specialized software solutions vendor that provides back-office IT services (similar in scope to ERP-type services) to the K-12 education sector. It serves over 1.7-million students across North America, providing a suite of services for school administration and student information systems.

This role provides the opportunity to:

  • Join a small, talented and driven Software as a Service product team
  • Build a foundation for long-term career growth in a growing, entrepreneurial IT firm
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and lead Edsembli’s sales/marketing content creation and proposal response activities
  • Lead project teams that deliver effective sales and marketing materials as well as proposal responses with persuasive themes and other elements to ensure winning bids
  • Work in a collaborative Client Management Services team that supports the efforts of account managers to respond to and serve customer expectations

With offerings that include Student Information Systems (SIS) as well as Human Resources & Payroll (HRP), and Finance (FIN) modules, the company delivers a complete back office IT solution to schools as they seek to access and share information, deliver efficiencies and make better administrative decisions.

The Role:

  • Organize and deliver corporate commercial capabilities:
    • Understand RFP and procurement language/processes to establish commercial strategies for qualifying, demonstrating compliance and responding to customer requests
    • Prepare responses to RFP’s and sole-source procurement inquiries, in a timely fashion
    • Collaborate with the Legal and Finance & Admin teams, as well as Client Management Services and regional account managers, to ensure external commercial responses and proposals are of the highest quality, compliance, and persuasiveness
  • Conduct thorough research on industry-related topics, generating ideas for new content types and proofreading articles before publication.
  • Producing online content with a keen eye for detail
  • Ultimately, you’ll deliver quality writing pieces that appeal to our audiences, attract customers and boost brand awareness.


  • Be the go-to leader at Edsembli for proposal responses and commercial info:
    • Perform detailed analysis of RFP/RFQ/RFI documents to assess requirements
    • Develop compelling proposal narratives that demonstrate the company’s value proposition
    • Ensure proposals properly address SOW, identify missing information, evaluate assumptions, identify risks, evaluate costs, ensure text and responses match requirements
    • Write key sections of proposals including “boilerplate” corporate references, solutions, project delivery methodologies and schedules (with ability to port from one RFP/document to the next)
    • Lead kick-off meetings, assign and coordinate sections, and project manage schedules
    • Work with regional account managers to deliver responses to customers and third-party brokers
    • Monitor procurement boards, external sites throughout North America, and all other sources of release to build the proposal funnel
  • Research and maintain a well-organized and accessible knowledge base of commercial resources that make responses more likely to win new clients
  • Write clear marketing copy to promote our products/services
  • Update website content as needed
  • Prepare well-structured drafts using Content Management Systems
  • Proofread and edit blog posts before publication
  • Create marketing and design items to illustrate articles
  • Conduct simple keyword research and use SEO guidelines to increase web traffic
  • Promote content on social media
  • Identify needs and gaps in our content and recommend new topics
  • Ensure all-around consistency (style, fonts, images and tone)

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in proposal and marketing content writing
  • Experience with RFP compliance and bid response development
  • Experience doing research using multiple sources
  • Experience with website content publications
  • Experience promoting a business through social media
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English
  • Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (e.g. Sharepoint)
  • Knowledge of MS Word, MS Project and related RFP creation tools
