A prominent food processing company is looking to grow its team by hiring a Controller through Robert Half Finance. In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, your tasks will include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assessing accounting and internal control systems, and guiding departmental staff. The Controller will be a full-time employment opportunity and will be located in the Mississauga, Ontario region.



What you get to do every day

* Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection

* Collaborate with operations to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible

* Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

* Support organic and growth by acquisition with research, analysis and recommendations

* Investigate financing options including all available funding programs

* Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

* Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

* Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties

* Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, payroll, inventory and costing

* Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis

* Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

* Give Senior Management monthly financial reports

* Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
* CPA designation

* 4 years of Controllership experience, manufacturing background required, food manufacturing a strong asset.

* Managers working in public accounting firms with small and medium sized manufacturing clients would also be a strong match

* Possesses strong business modelling and analytical skills relevant for a manufacturing facility

* Prior experience guiding a company through growth, organic and acquisition is highly desired

* Prior experience organizing financing and researching funding programs is a strong asset

* Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

* Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

* Solid understanding of manufacturing

* Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

* Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills

* Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

* Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism well

* Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

* Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
