Robert Half Finance is looking for an ambitious Controller to join a well-respected services company. In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will be planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. The Controller will be a full-time employment opportunity and will be located in the Winnipeg, Manitoba region.

Major responsibilities

- Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

- Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis

- Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

- Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

- Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections

- Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible

- Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

- Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

- Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

- Capable of handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties

- Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

- Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required

- Be detailed, flexible, and organized

- Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

- Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

- Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

- Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills

- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

- Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

- Command of IFRS Accounting

- CPA Designation experience

- Supervising experience preferred

- Comprehensive knowledge of SAP

- Deep understanding of SOX

- General familiarity with Accounts Payable (AP)

- Well-founded grasp of Analyze Variance

- Practical knowledge of Accounts Receivable (AR)

- Proven knowledge of analytics

- Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills

- Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
