IT Project Manager 

On behalf of our client, Procom Consultants Group is actively seeking a Senior IT Project Manager.

The client is interested in hiring a consultant to provide the services of a Senior IT Project Manager to help the city with the implementation of a Parks and Recreation Information Management Solutions. 

IT Project Manager Job Details

This Position reports to the IT Program Management office and works closely with the IT and business groups to ensure the project is successfully planned, implemented and handed over to business operations. This position will be responsible for interfacing with large cross functional teams and will need to demonstrate superior project management, software implementation, business analysis, agile and waterfall methodologies. With input of the Project Steering Committee (PSC) this position will be responsible for managing day to day progress of all project scope dimensions. 

Experience with parks and recreation Information Systems is an asset but not required. 

  1.  Lead and deliver all aspects of the project lifecycle, ensuring quality and completeness of project delivery. 
  2. Develop project charter and plan for execution, including all other project documentation identified by IT PMO
  3. Accountable for delivery of all in scope project activities; project plan, timeline, budget, scope, risk, issue, quality, staffing and any identified project constraints
  4. Oversight of project team to ensure delivery of the stated project goals and objectives against the established measurements criteria; coordinating and managing team resource 
  5. Chair Project Steering Committee, working group and sub committee(s) (as required): preparing materials; sending out agendas, minutes etc. and facilitating discussions. 
  6. Accountable point person for project delivery and communication, reporting on all project aspects to all project stakeholders, including regular project status reports
  7. Liaise with vendor and management of vendor to contracted scope, cost and requirements to support project delivery, tracking vendor performance meet project milestones and report any variance or deviation from contract
  8. Document and report on project level issues, decisions, dependencies and risks, facilitate resolution and escalation
  9. Manage, plan and control costs, schedule, scope and create change requests and assess impact of proposed changes
  10. Address challenges, including organizational, vendor, technical, documentation, budget logistics
  11. Oversight of Quality control, change management and business readiness requirements for successful implementation of the project
  12. Transition of new processes and systems to business operations, including the facilitation of business operational handoff activities and post implementation support 
  13. Perform project close (including the development of sustainment and knowledge transfer documentation), and facilitate the collection and documentation of lessons learned

IT Project Manager Mandatory Skills

  1. Project Management:10+ years managing large IT projects
  2. Government Experience (asset but not mandatory)
Capabilities
  • Experience leading and delivering enterprise level projects; business process management, solutions integration, packaged or cloud implementations 
  • Technical Mindset to lead cross functional teams, solid understanding of IT concepts
  • Demonstrated capability to drive deliverables under tight timelines in a complex and evolving organizational environment 
  • Proficiency in project management software tools 
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget and timeline
  • Proven relationship management, conflict management and leadership skills
  • Change Management/ Business transformation experience in large organisations 
  • Comfortable leading meetings and regularly communicating to project and business stakeholders 
  • Excellent client facing (verbal and written) communication skills and interpersonal skills 
  • Advanced time management and analytical skills 
  • High degree of attention to details, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • PMP
Education
  • University Degree (preferred) or equivalent
  • Diploma in information systems or related field (desired)
