As a Purchaser with the Design Store Planning Team, at The North West Company (NWC), you will procure fixtures and equipment for all company banners. In your role you will obtain fixture quotes, place orders, perform material take offs, and assist with negotiations of all fixture procurement while adhering to budgetary requirements and guidelines.

Your Role:

• Develop and maintain a departmental fixtures and equipment costing data base;
• Oversees procurement of all fixture and equipment requirements;
• Preparation of all fixture and equipment project procurement budget estimates;
• Perform detailed project scope for fixtures and equipment take-offs, obtain quotes, placement of orders ;
• Negotiate competitive pricing for all fixture and equipment procurement;
• Work collaboratively with the Merchandise Planning group to coordinate and source merchandise accessories;
• Place all fixture and equipment orders and track deliveries and all associated costs for fixture and equipment capital projects;
• Work collaboratively with design team to develop standards for fixture and equipment requirements;
• Provides support and processes intake of purchasing requisitions through centralized information system (Store Connect);
• Track distribution and coordinate installation with store management and trades as necessary in accordance with NWCs specifications and standards.; and
• Assess performance of all fixtures and equipment to NWC standards and operational requirements.

Desired Skills Experience:

• Minimum 3 years experience in retail fixture procurement, preferably in a retail environment;
• Post-secondary education or University degree in a related field is preferred, or a combination of education and experience;
• Proficient with AutoCAD considered an asset;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;
• Excellent interpersonal skills with an aptitude for negotiation, and building and maintaining business relationships both with internal customers and external vendors;
• Experience working with retail design, construction and facility management would be considered an asset;
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to NWC standards and specifications;
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
• Must be able to work independently, as well as support peers, and work in a team environment; and
• Highly motivated with proven organizational, planning and prioritizing skills.
