They are partnering with Robert Half in their search for an experienced and analytic Director of Operations, to lead alongside their Executive leadership team.

With facilities headquartered in downtown Edmonton, this organization has garnered National recognition for some of their strategic initiatives.  Reporting to the COO, you will be responsible for ensuring the implementation and successful delivery of numerous programs. You will drive innovation and process improvement, ensuring the successful accomplishment of operational goals and objectives. You think expansively and have a talent for combining novel ideas in unique ways to generate innovative solutions. 

How you will make an impact in this role:

  • Oversee, empower and inspire a team of leaders while assisting with their career development
  • Responsible for setting, executing, tracking, and reporting of strategic initiatives that will generate incremental revenues
  • Work with COO in long term strategy development and program objectives
  • Responsible for evaluation, approval and management of funding processes
  • Forecast future needs of clients and proactively strategize solutions
  • Pursue, achieve and exceed cost, revenue and margin targets; develop contingency plans to overcome known and potential obstacles and ensure the achievement of financial and other business goals.
  • Establish and manage challenging goals, objectives and strategies for improvements in current operations, including existing policy and procedures implementation and operations management in the areas of operational techniques, quality, cost reduction, streamlined processes and performance measurement
  • Be a public figure representing the organization to a myriad external stakeholders and constituents
  • Assist in development and administration of human resource policies and procedures  
  • Manages contracts with external consultants (ie. Audits, technical evaluations, etc.)
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to Board of Directors, Industry Councils, and other key external and internal stakeholders on a variety of issues

Requirements for the role:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in operations management
  • Minimum 7 years management experience
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education will be considered
  • Experience with project management or lean operating models
  • Knowledge and experience with change management  
  • Strong understanding of operational and personnel policies
  • Advanced knowledge of stewardship programs, recycling regulations and organization bylaws
  • Previous experience working with a transport company considered an asset
  • In depth knowledge of non-profit governance and general management
