Senior Security Engineer
On behalf of our client, Procom is seeking an experienced Senior Security Engineer for a full-time permanent position in Markham, ON.

Senior Security Engineer Job Details

  • The ideal candidate will develop and maintain a cyber security plan, be responsible for identifying and mitigating risks, drive security standards and governance using automation.
  • The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing the security architecture to ensure business continuity and compliance with strict security guidelines.

Senior Security Engineer - Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and build security infrastructure for applications and hardware with the IS & IT leadership teams
  • Provide IS and IT stakeholders with the most accurate and up-to-date guidance on how to ensure their applications and infrastructure is secure
  • Responsible for monitoring applications and networks for security events/threats and react accordingly
  • Install security measures and operate software to protect systems and information infrastructure, including firewalls and data encryption programs
  • Work with the IS & Project Manager to ensure that security is embedded in code per the SDLC
  • Perform proactive and consistent penetration testing, including documentation
  • Document security breaches and assess damage, provide proactive measures on mitigating security breaches
  • Develop company-wide best practices for IS/IT security and provide training to internal employees and external partners as needed
  • Document and maintain requirements to meet ISO, SOC, ITSG-33, PHI, GDPR, etc. Cyber Security standards
  • Communicate with stakeholders at a high level to understand requirements and provide solutions in efficient and innovative ways
  • Document and respond to inquiries from auditors, Privacy Officer, Sales and others as it relates to certifications, compliance, validation of the security infrastructure
  • Stay current on IS/IT security trends, applicable regulatory security standards and best practices

Senior Security Engineer - Mandatory Skills

  • Diploma or Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science or 7+ years of relevant experience and skills
  • Information Security professional designations such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH, Security+
  • Strong knowledge of SEM, security incident, malware, and vulnerability management processes
  • Experience with penetration testing, ethical hacking, ability to identify and mitigate network vulnerabilities, and patch management
  • Must have experience with Imperva application and management and intrusion detecting technologies
  • Experience developing frameworks and documentation to comply to with security standards, ISO and other audit requirements
  • Solid understanding of IT, including multiple operating systems and system administration skills (Windows, Linux)
  • Strong understanding of networking principles including TCP/IP, WANs, LANs, and commonly used Internet protocols such as SMTP, HTTP, FTP, POP, LDAP
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and attention to detail
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills to communicate to all levels of employees and external stakeholders including C-suite
  • Able to work independently, and team environments with a high degree of maturity
  • Flexibility in working hours including after-hours (nights/overnight/weekend) availability as needed
