HEALTH AND SAFETY SUPERVISOR - $70K-$80K

Location: Goderich, Ontario

This position serves as a member of the Environmental, Health and Safety team. The H&S Supervisor promotes a safe and productive workplace by increasing safety awareness, monitoring and auditing safety systems, reporting safety statistics, and providing safety training. The H&S Supervisor collaborates with all site personnel, contractors, regulators, and corporate staff and provides full spectrum support in the EH&S effort.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support Company policies, procedures, goals and objectives to promote a safe, productive workplace
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations
  • Continuously improve the safety systems in place; support line management in the improvement of safety awareness and performance
  • Respond to employee concerns as per the IRS (Internal Responsibility System)
  • Act as an ambassador in the promotion of industrial health and safety programs
  • Maintain and analyze injury/illness records and reports
  • Monitor/audit site safety systems and report findings to line management and leader of EH&S
  • Provide line management with pertinent safety information in a timely manner (including information related to incidents, hazard alerts, off the job safety etc.)
  • Report accidents/incidents to the Ministry of Labour as prescribed by OHSA
  • Promote and enhance injury management program
  • Conduct and support Safe Track observations
  • Work within budgeted guidelines
  • Assist line management in the safety investigation process
  • Develop and conduct training programs
  • Consistently demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, as well as strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Carry out tasks as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate holds a college diploma in a technical Health and Safety discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience. A designation in E, H&S is required.

The preferred candidate has:

  • At least 5-7 years experience in a similar role
  • Supervisory Experience
  • CRSP designation is considered an asset
  • Training background

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, candidate must have strong computer skills and must be proficient in Windows XP, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc...
