Join the ranks at a well-respected distribution company as a Controller through Robert Half Finance. In this leadership role, you will manage an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. Based in the Etobicoke, Ontario area, this opening for a Controller is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

- Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash

- Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

- Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible

- Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

- Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

- Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required

- Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis

- Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month

- Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team

- Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience. Will prefer candidates seeking a Controller position as their next step.

- Experience with Hyperion is an asset. Please identify if you use this software

- Prior work done in public accounting is an asset

- A completed or nearly completed CPA is preferred

- Comprehensive knowledge of Monthly Financial Statements

- Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

- Strong communication and social skills

- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills

- Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

- Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

- Strong attention to detail

- Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

- Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
