Electrical Engineering Lead - Vehicle Architecture

As a key member of the New Product Development (NPD) department, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and overseeing product development as they proceed through the design process. This includes providing support such that all assigned engineering deliverables for the design/product are completed on time and meet all requirements at all points in the product life-cycle.

  • Act as a direct liaison to the NPD Project Engineers and Engineering Manager to ensure design requirements are conveyed and identified while documenting all technical issues for the NPD team.
  • Conduct risk assessment/mitigation planning for future design work.
  • Act as a designated engineering liaison and facilitate cross-functional communications as required.
  • Work with the NPD Engineering Manager and bids team to ensure product integrity is maintained on new bids and review new or significant technical content.
  • Review and interpret customer specifications, technical summaries, vendor quotations and other contract documentations to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Conduct and leads required project design reviews and any applicable failure mode and effects analysis and hazard analysis exercises.
  • Oversee development and approve vendor function requirements, supplier application approval, vehicle functional testing and supports customer configuration audits with Customer Program Management & Product Data Management.
  • Create, check and approve engineering documents, instructions to service, shop floor instructions and other documents as authorized.
  • Participates in training and monitoring of employee performance.

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum five years electrical design based knowledge related to essential functions in vehicle architecture related to software 
  • Proficiency in Unigraphics or equivalent 3D CAD modeling software is an asset
  • Familiarity with software development, control system design principles and advanced electrical design 
  • Must possess PLC and advanced programming language knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Highly analytical problem-solver with demonstrated talent for identifying, understanding and creating workable solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and work efficiently in a high demanding fast paced work environment
  • Motivated self-starter with high level of initiative and ability to work independently
  • Ability to work and contribute to a team orientated environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in research and development or manufacturing will be considered an asset
