Senior PHP Developer (Backend)– Job Description

• The Backend Software Engineer III is seasoned in building software as a service (SaaS) that directly impacts client’s success.
• The Backend Software Engineer III will have the opportunity to experience the excitement and challenges of delivering software in a fast-paced environment.
• The Backend Software Engineer III understands the software development elements including but not limited to automation testing (Unit, Integration, End-to-End tests), continuous integration and deployment, and writing clean code; is a strong collaborator in order to conduct code reviews and maintain a knowledge sharing culture; and is a self-motivator who meets challenges head on and finds new and better ways of doing things.
• Design and implement innovative software and modify existing software to add features, build web services, with focus on quality, scalability, and modularity.
• Adhere to best practices including SCRUM processes, code modularization, code reusability and coding standards that contribute to production of high-quality code.
• Reach defined goals and meet deadlines by working closely and collaborating with the development team.
• Liaise with developers, designers and system administrators to identify new features.
• Author, review and approve functional and non-functional requirements.
• Anticipate risks and propose alternative solutions and mitigation strategies.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the user experience.
• Create and maintain scalable RESTful APIs.
• Contribute to leading-edge ideas, tools and frameworks by keeping up with the latest trends in the industry via conferences, blogs, tutorials, books and videos.
• Inspire the team by sustaining a positive environment and sharing knowledge through peer mentoring, shared resources, informal teachings and lunch and learns.
• Perform other tasks as required.

Senior PHP Developer (Backend)– Mandatory Skills

• 4+ years of experience working as a PHP Developer is required.
• Expert understanding of PHP 7 object oriented / modular programming is required.
• 4 to 6 years of experience working as a Backend Developer is required.
• Minimum 5 years experience with MVC frameworks (Laravel or Symfony).
• Experience with repositories such as Git and SVN.
• Strong experience with public Cloud Service Provider (Amazon AWS).
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or the equivalent in education and experience is required.

• Senior PHP Developer (Backend)– Nice to have Skills

• Ability to script in Linux for automation.
• Expertise using Swagger and/or Postman tools.
• Deep knowledge on Shell Scripting.
• Strong knowledge of TDD, BDD and DDD.
• Strong knowledge of virtualization and container technologies (Docker, Vagrant, Hyper-V).
• Excellent understanding of both relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Good knowledge of JS frameworks (Vue, AngularJS, or similar).
• Critical thinker, problem-solver, and team leader with good interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex technical issues to all level team members.
