Job Description

The Vice President, Human Resources is ultimately responsible for managing the strategy and processes related to developing and retaining a diverse and exceptional team of professionals.  The ideal candidate will be able to act as an advisor to all levels within ADGA and must also be able to roll up their sleeves and execute solutions across a broad, geographically disparate, employee and consultant base.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and coordination of all Human Resources programs, policies and services including employment documentation, contracts, corporate orientation, personnel classification, compensation, benefits, performance management, training and professional development and management of the professional team responsible for its implementation.  This position writes, develops, recommends, implements, evaluates, and reports on Human Resources policy, programs, procedures, and services across the Company.

  • Work in conjunction with Executive Management to develop and lead his/her Division’s tactical plan, presenting it to the Executive Management Committee, and employees of ADGA as required.
  • Supervises and manages the Human Resources team to ensure the smooth delivery of services to all managers, employees and consultants specifically related to administration of benefits, compensation programs, employment documentation, performance management, training and professional development programs and company orientation.
  • Provides advice to managers on statutory or regulatory requirements in all areas of staff management.  Provides proactive guidance and assistance in meeting those obligations such as designing and recommending equitable programs and processes.
  • Coordinates the activities of members of the team through various committees and regular meetings and works with them in the establishment and execution of business plans and objectives of their respective areas of responsibility, business units, or lines of business.
  • Provides feedback on performance, and complete probationary and annual performance reviews as per the Company’s schedule.
  • Identifies any areas of concern, or if alerted to areas of concern, address them to Executive Management or other members of the team as required.
  • Demonstrate an ability to attract, hire and retain top talent, with a focus on diversity and inclusion as a competitive advantage and develop appropriate programs across the company to reinforce this.
  • Recruits, develops, and maintains high-performing teams, ensuring they achieve the highest levels of excellence, through training, and maintaining constructive and transparent relations with such teams.
  • Provides oversight on the development and implementation of corporate personnel policies and programs and provides advice to management on the effective application and interpretation of such policies.  
  • Leads contract negotiations, including benefits, learning and development, and with 3rd party organizations as required.
  • Develops and implements organizational change management initiatives to meet business plans and objectives of the Company.
  • Develops and presents to Executive Management a quarterly and annual business plan for the department, including related budgets.
  • Provides strategic guidance and support on HR issues pertaining to mergers and company acquisitions.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources Management, ideally an advanced degree is preferred
  • Professional designation in Human Resources (CHRL, IPMA, SHRM)
  • Experience working as a Senior Human Resources leader in both the Public and Private sectors
  • An outstanding knowledge of employment law and government policies is required
  • Proven ability to manage a team that works to tight but fluid deadlines is essential 
  • Extensive experience in developing policies and procedures and working with a workforce that is geographically split is required
  • Budgeting skills are essential
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
