Procurement Specialist

Location: Fort McMurray, AB

Diversified Transportation has an exciting new opportunity for a Procurement Specialist based in Fort McMurray.

Reporting directly to the Procurement Manager, this position is responsible for purchasing for the company and maintaining records, files, and databases. This role involves acquiring the best value in quality and prices for the company. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, have excellent communication and analytical skills, as well as be comfortable negotiating with the best interest of the company in mind.

The shift for this position is Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain vendor reports and evaluate issues and assist to prepare data reports for purchasing system and manage buying trends
  • Coordinate with supervisor and provide support to product research programs and assist to obtain required approvals and maintain spreadsheets and evaluate corrections for same and establish best purchase activities
  • Evaluate purchase orders and ensure accuracy in SKU and product plan and maintain tracking of receipts from various locations and maintain an efficient packaging guide according to vendor regulations
  • Coordinate with vendor to maintain knowledge on product and delivery schedule and oversee personnel training programs and evaluate same and manage work with sales and purchasing departments
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers and manage pricing and availability of products and develop purchase order for purchasing system and manage communication with general contractors and coordinate with sourcing analyst to source materials
  • Manage communication with vendors, track orders and resolve any issues

Desired Requirements:

  • Post- secondary education in Purchasing / Supply Chain Management, or 2-5 years of field experience may be considered
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience as a Buyer
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Access and Excel at an Intermediate level
  • High attention to detail and confidentiality and must be fully aware of the sensitivity of the position and act upon it accordingly
  • High level of initiative and an ability to work under minimal supervision or direction
  • Ability to multi-task in a multi-office/location organization and problem-solve while maintaining flexibility in a fast paced and deadline-based environment
