TS Tech Canada, located in Newmarket, Ontario, is an automotive seat manufacturer providing high quality products through strong automation and quality control systems. We are currently looking for someone to join our Maintenance Section. This is a Full-Time, Monday-Friday, rotating shift position - Day Shift (6:30am – 3:00pm), Afternoon Shift (4:30pm-1:00am).
Primary Function:
As a PLC Programmer, you will be responsible for designing and programming PLCs for new lines, troubleshooting equipment issues, and fixing programming issues on existing production lines. The PLC Programmer, is also responsible for the maintenance of the electrical schematics for all equipment.
Duties will include, but are not restricted to, the following:
  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery, determine the root cause of failure and find the appropriate solutions to prevent failure in the future.
  • Correct machine failure
  • Development and support of PLCs (Program Logic Control) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) programs for use on the Productions lines. Brands of PLCs in use: Siemens, Allan Bradley, Omron and Mitsubishi
  • Create and build electrical schematics for new lines using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Maintain electrical schematics for existing equipment when electrical changes are made
  • Capability to interface PLC system with automation quality controls such as Vision Systems (Keyence, Cognex), Servo and Analog Sensors.
  • Set up parameter sheets and maintain documentation through ISO System
  • Lead trouble-shooting team members with electrical/programming issues
  • Assist with the installation of new wiring determining I/O, new wiring installations to comply with the Electrical Safety Code
  • Conduct inspections with the Electrical Safety Authority
  • Maintain a log of completed work to be inspected
  • Schedule electrical work around production schedules, to minimize impact to production lines
Job Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of Safety PLC Systems with strict adherence to safety standards
  • Strong understanding of Industrial network (EthernetIP, Profibus)
  • Must be able to communicate using CIF (Change Information Form) to train associates regarding changes to machines
  • Must be able to manage end of life components: track status of equipment/components for discontinuation and make plans for upgrades and replacements
  • Must have strict adherence to company’s Health and Safety policies which includes; Lockout/Tagout and Machine Entry
The successful applicant must possess the following:
  • Minimum high school Diploma or equivalent
  • College education/College of Trades (Trades specific) and/or apprenticeship, PLC training.
  • Valid driver’s license; willingness and ability to travel to the US
  • Industrial Electrician License 442A
  • Electrical Construction & Maintenance License 309D
  • Minimum 5 years of Industrial experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi and HMI programming
  • Minimum 5 years’ hands-on electrical experience
  • Proven experience building an automated production line using Allen Bradley and Siemens programming
  • Proven experience using Vision systems to control product quality and prevent defects
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, particularly in Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint and AutoCAD Electrical
  • Proficiency in Program Logic Control (PLC) operation and associated software, i.e. Studio5000, Siemens Step 7, GX_Developer, Omron CX and C++
  • Specific component software for machine control – motor drives, servo and relay logic control systems are necessary
The following would be considered assets:
  • Motoman robot programming and troubleshooting
