310T or 310S Technician Mechanic/Apprentice

Location: Elmira and/or Breslau, ON

Job Summary

We have two positions, one working out of Elmira and the other out of Breslau; however, additional responsibilities may be required in Breslau, Elmira or Listowel operations. Apprentices will also be considered for this role.

Reporting to the Shop Forman, a 310T or 310S Licensed Technician (Mechanic) is responsible for the day-to-day preventative and post-incident repairs of a large fleet of commercial vehicles. This fast-paced, but diligent role will diagnose and carry out all repairs for mechanical issues and problems discovered in various commercial School Buses and civilian class vehicles. The incumbent will maintain a strong sense of customer service while interacting with various stakeholders, School Bus Drivers, Dispatchers, Managers, Peer Mechanics, Apprentices and Governmental Agencies.

Job Duties

  • Perform Brake and Safety Inspections and carry out preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure all vehicle inspections are completed in a timely fashion each month.
  • Perform service calls and cold starts as required.
  • Ensure you have knowledge of our safety policies and adhere to them.
  • Perform additional vehicle repairs as needed.
  • Adhere to compliance-based regulations from a Company, Federal, Provincial and Municipal perspective.
  • Complete reports to record problems and work performed.
  • Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions.
  • Diagnose faults and malfunctions and confirm findings with the supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace.

Qualifications

  • Possess and maintain in good standing a valid 310T or 310S Licence; Apprentices also considered
  • Valid Driver's Licence
  • Thorough working knowledge of Municipal, Provincial and Federal safety provisions.
  • Practical experience in preventative maintenance practices, particularly within the School Bus industry, is an asset.
  • Ability to work in team-based, collaborative work.
