Agilus is recruiting for a HVAC Controls Programmer in the HVAC Equipment Design industry in Edmonton, Alberta. Agilus Work Solutions is currently searching for a HVAC Controls Programmer. This is a permanent position in Edmonton with well-established leader in the in the design and manufacture of modular HVAC systems used in hyperscale datacentre operations. This company is experience huge growth and now is an exciting time to join the team. The successful candidate will function as an important part of the controls engineering department. This is an intermediate to senior programming/design position and we're looking for candidates who can program from scratch. Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, review, and write DDC programs for custom HVAC equipment, computer room air handling equipment and various other HVAC related equipment.
  • Commission, troubleshoot, test, and maintain HVAC equipment controls systems to ensure equipment is functioning per specifications and intended design.
  • Operate proprietary software tools to aid in the design of the controls system.
  • Interface with customers and other project stakeholders on technical issues related to controls.
  • Provide training to internal and external customers, related to the control's operation of HVAC equipment and support field service department as required on field related controls issues.
  • Assist with the development of new and innovative product lines and refinement of existing products and he development of controls system operations manuals and technical brochures
  • Read and interpret job specifications produced by engineering consultants related to the design of HVAC controls
  • Interact with quality control personnel and assist with implementation and enforcement of the company’s quality assurance program
The successful candidate brings:
  • Electrical/mechanical engineering degree, computer science degree, or a technical diploma combined with HVAC controls programming experience preferred.
  • Hands on experience with one or more of the following control technologies: Distech, CAREL, Tridium (Niagara), Johnson Controls, Siemens, Allen Bradley
  • Experience with controls communication protocols: BACnet and Modbus
  • Experience with DDCs/PLCs and BACnet/Modbus integrations
  • Experience with DDC programming languages: function block and structured text
  • Experience with web programming languages JavaScript and HTML5 preferred
  • Experience with general-purpose programming languages such as C++, Visual Basic, or Python an asset
  • Basic computer networking proficiency required, specifically with LANs, switches and routers
