Team Overview and Job responsibilities

The Inside Sales Representative is responsible to successfully grow and maintain customers, established distributors and agents account business through proactive sales efforts and customer service.

Reporting to the Inside Sales Manager, the Inside Sales Representative is responsible for responding to all inquiries from established customers, processing requests for quotes, entering orders, managing orders, and working with functional areas throughout the organization to ensure customer satisfaction.  Responsibilities include gathering and reporting data, market intelligence, quoting, ordering, order management, providing pricing, product availability and basic technical information while executing the timely delivery of products and services. Successful candidates will possess analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills and a technical aptitude to understand product functionality, specifications, and application.

Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Support the sale of products to customers by entering, managing, and expediting orders to facilitate the timely delivery of products to customers
  • Respond to calls/e-mails/faxes daily from customers, distributors, agents, and outside sales personnel
  • Communicate technical information to customers, distributors, and end-users, including technical specifications, samples, and catalogs
  • Process requests for quote by providing pricing and product availability, and proactively following up on quotes to win business and gain market intelligence
  • Develop and maintain product knowledge through product certification of up to 6 product lines including custom products.
  • Partner with Regional Sales Managers and agents to communicate customer requirements and proactively increase sales
  • Confer with supply chain, warehouses, regional distribution centers, and carriers to supply customers with desired products as expeditiously as possible
  • Process customer returns and claims in a timely fashion
  • Resolve customer complaints professionally and effectively
  • Communicate with customers, distributors, and agents in a professional and timely manner both verbally and written
  • Provide back-up assistance and coverage for other team members
  • Attend required training classes, achieve product certification
  • Participate in cross-functional projects, both on a departmental and company-wide basis and share pertinent information with fellow team members
  • Participate in departmental initiatives and objectives
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by your manager

Key Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of AS 400 Mainframe, Quoting System Databases, Query Search Systems, SAP, and Windows based system applications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Systems and Windows XP
  • Analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills required
  • Technical aptitude to understand product functionality, specifications, and applications
  • Excellent written and verbal skills necessary
  • Time management skills, especially the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of Wire and Cable industry a plus
  • Bilingual – French and English
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School / College Diploma. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.


  • Minimum of two years' experience in Inside sales / Account management / Customer service.
