Role Summary
The Environmental Remediation and Due Diligence Coordinator will be a member of the Environmental Team that is responsible for developing and implementing environmental compliance and industry best practice program for the Magna Group of companies. The position will be responsible for assisting with due diligence activities associated with new properties, merger and acquisitions, divestures, as well as management of environmental investigation and remediation activities. The position will primarily support Divisions and Groups in the Americas, but will also have Global Program responsibilities, including the development, implementation and maintenance of programs, policies and tools to support Environmental Programs.
Key Responsibilities• Oversee the management of due diligence activities in the Americas, including liaising with Divisions, Groups, Legal, Real Estate and Consultants to establish scope, schedule, budget, and coordinate field activities
• Review reports, provide comments and prepare a memorandum summarizing findings and future actions required, if any, to the Compliance Team and Division
• Manage activities in HSELinx and MS Teams
• Coordinate environmental remediation projects in the Americas including coordination of consultants, reviewing scope of work, providing technical feedback and recommendations to consultants and internal clients, managing budgets
• Support Divisions in conducting necessary investigation and soil management activities related to construction requiring excavation of soil (i.e. new building construction, installation of subgrade features, etc.) as well as decommissioning of processes and structures that could have resulted in exposure of chemicals to the natural environment (soil, surface water, sediment, groundwater)
• Review Real Estate Approval Forms (REAFs) and determine necessary actions or activities required to support the Groups and Divisions from a due diligence, remediation or construction perspective
• Participate in global transaction due diligence activities when required
• Identify and track Property Incidents and related Action Items
• Develop and update Property Applications on the HSELinx system
• Assist in the development and implementation of policies/principles and procedures
• Develop and maintain a property page on Magnet
• Prepare presentations for the Magna EHS Conferences
• Develop and execute training programs
Knowledge and Education
• Minimum of Bachelors of Science or Engineering degree in Chemistry, Geology, or Environmental
• A minimum of one to two (1 - 2) years of relevant experience in working on environmental assessment and compliance programs and projects
Work Experience
• Familiarity with Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and review and interpretation of laboratory and field data
• Strong technical skills in website development and experience in application development in web based EHS software systems
Skills and Competencies
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to review and interpret environmental laws, regulations and standards
• Strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills
• Ability to manage competing deadlines
• Fluency in Spanish, German or Chinese is an asset
• Experience with MS Office (Teams, Word, Excel, Sharepoint, Power BI)

Work Environment
• Standard office environment
• Potential for overnight travel in North America up to 10% of the time
