Job Description

We are looking for 2 Network Management Specialists to join our existing team on a well established, and long term contract opportunity with the Department of National Defence!

You will join our Build Team - building servers that are being delivered to various locations.

Tasks would include:

  • Follow and create connectivity diagrams for servers and networks.
  • Follow detailed documents to build, maintain, and troubleshoot other windows-based servers (i.e. Openfire, McAfee, DPM etc.)
  • Configure routers (Putty) and switches (Cisco and Dell switches)
  • Apply basic knowledge of Linux language and servers (CMS, CUCM, VCSA)
  • Using MS Office products such as Word, Excel and Visio.
  • Apply a good level of knowledge of:
    • Networking in general.
    • Active Directory management (domain controller)
    • Microsoft SCCM for server/client builds and updates.
    • Windows OS (Server 2012, 2019, Win10, Win7)
    • Troubleshooting skills.
    • Implementing technical instructions.
    • Command Prompt functions (i.e. ipconfig/all)

  • A Masters Degree or Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. (or equivalent) OR College Diploma in Engineering or Computer Technology. (or equivalent)
  • At least 6-10 years of experience in system engineering, information technology, information management, software engineer, or computer/communications systems.
  • At least 5 years experience in the preparation of guidance and strategic direction documentation in the field of information technology, information management or engineering.
  • Ability to demonstrate at least 3 years with each of the following tasks:
    • develop strategic documentation, frameworks, and strategies.
    • conduct reviews and assessment of program objectives from a technical prospective.
    • analyze and evaluate alternative solutions to meet objectives.
    • ensure the integration of all aspects of solutions.
    • monitor industry trends to ensure that solutions fit with government and industry directions for technology.
  • Windows server experience
  • Experience/knowledge with the following tools, systems, applications and equipment:
    • Active Directory, MS Exchange
    • Public Key Infrastructure
    • MS SharePoint, MS SCOM, MS Data Protection Manager tools
    • Cisco products (CUCM, CMS, IP communicator, servers)
    • VMWare products (ESX hypervisor, VCS, ovftools, convert)
    • Dell products (servers, NAS)

Additional Information

  • You must hold a valid 'secret' clearance with the Federal Government to be considered (Controlled Goods will be required)
  • You could be required to travel, deliver, test and train when delivering servers to the Canadian Army.
  • Preference will be given to candidates that have:
    • exposure to Ansible, Kubernetes, Wringer, PowerShell and Robot Framework.
    • System deployment experience using Docker/Container is also considered a very strong asset.
    • experience with the government (DND specifically) and previous Canadian Army signals experience
