Founded in 1928 and celebrating its 90th year, FSGV is a charitable organization with nearly 100 social services programs and 500 employees across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. We provide effective services for our clients, including counselling, therapy, advocacy, education, employment support and community services. The PRIYD program is a community access program focusing on functional life skills and community integration for children and youth with special needs. Innovation Integrity Diversity Optimism ExcellenceHERES WHAT WE CAN DO TOGETHER We are in need of a volunteer child minder to help look after children from 0-4 years of age while parents attend psycho-educational groups during the Family Day program. Family Day operates on Thursdays and Fridays from 9-1 pm. Child minders are required between 10:30 am -12 pm. WHAT YOU BRING An Early Childhood Education (ECE) student would be preferred, but it is not mandatory Knowledge of ages and stages of children newborn-4 years of age Experience caring for babies and toddlers A calm and friendly demeanor Being non-judgmental Good health, ability to lift and carry babies Good problem solving skills Reliability First Aid training is an assetWHAT WE OFFER YOU If your application is successful, a Criminal Record Check must be completed (at no cost to you). Location:Vancouver Family Preservation & Reunification Services 4103 Fraser Street, Vancouver, BC V5V 4E9 Hours:Fridays from 10 am to 12 pm. Commitment:Open ended – The Family Day Program runs sessions throughout the year. However, babies and young children need continuity, and it is to their benefit to be cared for by someone who is familiar to them. The group spans 6-7 weeks and has a short break between sessions. Start Date:March 2020, ongoing The opportunity to give back to your community and gain excellent work experience in a friendly and supportive environment. We will provide a $5.00 honorarium per volunteer day to help with transportation costs.
