Technical Product Manager at SeamlessMD

Technical Product Manager

SeamlessMD Toronto, Ontario Full Time
Who is SeamlessMD?
We are a diverse team of healthcare providers, technologists and industry professionals pioneering a new category of Digital Patient Engagement. We’ve been named a Global Top 100 Company in Digital Health and an OMERS Top 100 Canadian Health Tech Company. We have raised $7.4M from leading Canadian investors, including MEDTEQ, Hikma Ventures, AIoT Health, Tony Lacavera (Founder, WIND Mobile) and Sanjay Malaviya (Founder, RL Solutions).
What do we do?
Most healthcare is still delivered through paper and verbal instructions, with no easy way for providers to monitor patients and catch problems sooner. Staying connected with patients virtually is even more important during COVID-19. To address this, SeamlessMD provides the #1 digital patient engagement platform for hospitals and health systems to engage, monitor and stay connected with patients across their health care journey (e.g. surgery, chronic care, etc.). Patients are guided on smartphones, tablets and computers from preparation through recovery with reminders, education and progress tracking. Providers receive alerts, monitor patients on dashboards and access analytics to deliver better care. SeamlessMD is also the 1st digital patient engagement platform with turn-key integrations with Epic and Cerner - the two largest Electronic Health Record systems.
The Role: Technical Product Manager
Reporting to our CTO, the Technical Product Manager plays a critical role in helping our company continuously innovate, execute against our product roadmap with a high velocity and help our hospital customers succeed with SeamlessMD.
As a Technical Product Manager, your objectives are to:
  • Work with a dynamic team of clinicians, engineers, customer success and sales individuals to define and execute against our product roadmap, ensuring SeamlessMD continues to lead the digital health industry
  • Collaborate with healthcare customers and internal team members to deliver a fantastic product that helps our hospital customers achieve their goals
  • Support the Sales team in generating new business by acting as a Technical Product Expert in key sales engagements with prospective customers
As a Technical Product Manager, your main responsibilities include:
  • Act as the point person for Product Management both externally with customers/partners and with internal team members
  • Help define, prioritize and manage the product roadmap, with a focus towards delivering customer value and meeting the company’s business objectives
  • Manage the product backlog, including both new features and bugs fixes
  • Work closely with customers to discover and scope out requirements for new product features (e.g. new integrations with a hospital’s IT systems) and use cases (e.g. new medical conditions or patient workflows)
  • Work closely with customers to gather continuous feedback on new features/use cases and collaborate with internal team members to make improvements
  • Act as a Technical Product Expert to support the Sales team in closing new business. For example, assisting with complex Sales product demonstrations and representing the company in technical Sales meetings (e.g. speaking with hospital IT departments about the company’s Electronic Health Record integrations)
  • Act as a Technical Product Expert to support the Customer Success team in customer engagements for more technical projects, such as electronic health record/enterprise system integrations
  • Manage project schedules to ensure timely execution against the product roadmap and delivery of high-quality features
  • Work closely within the product and customer success teams to continually improve the user experience of the products you manage.
  • Support and lead product features through their entire lifecycle from planning, development, launch, to post-launch maintenance.
Are we the right fit for each other?
Required qualifications:
  • 3+ years experience as a B2B Software Product Manager
  • An understanding of software development, specifically how tech and API’s work; You don’t necessarily need to know a programming language, but you should have a solid understanding of how things work so you can contribute, give relevant feedback, and keep up with your development team
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies such as agile development, defining user stories, scrums, and sprints
  • Familiarity with software development management tools such as JIRA and Confluence
  • Ability to visually communicate when necessary (wireframes, diagrams, storyboards, etc.)
  • 2+ years experience in healthcare, such as:
  • Work experience - e.g. in a hospital or healthcare company
  • Education - e.g. graduate degree in health informatics
Required qualities:
  • Excited by the complexity of healthcare technology. Clinical workflows, Electronic Health Record integrations, enterprise-grade product expectations, etc - building a high quality software product for hospitals is incredibly complex and challenging. You will love it here if you are genuinely excited for the opportunity to be on the cutting edge of healthcare technology, however you will be frustrated by the complexity if healthcare technology isn’t your passion.
  • Experienced software product manager. You know how to build a product vision and roadmap. You are excellent at scoping out product use cases and delivering clear product requirements. You are terrific at collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Thrives with wearing multiple hats in a fast-moving, startup environment. We are not a huge company, we don’t have everything figured out and we don’t have endless resources. However, we are smart, fast and nimble. You will thrive here if you enjoy independence, wearing multiple hats, love taking initiative, and are willing to grow with us as we experiment and identify new best practices.
  • Strategic business mind. Our long-term business model is based on achieving enterprise-wide deployments, scaling across departments and hospitals in a customer account. You will thrive here if you are excited to put your “business hat” on to support the Sales and Customer Success team in evolving the product roadmap to support the fastest path to enterprise-wide deployments. You won’t be a fit here if you want a role focused solely on building the “most innovative product in healthcare”.
  • Enjoy engaging with healthcare customers. You will regularly communicate with a wide variety of hospital stakeholders, from clinicians to IT staff - both for helping our Sales teams close new business and helping our Customer Success teams evolve the product with our customers. As a result, it helps if you enjoy these types of interactions.
  • Excited by and experienced with unchartered territory. We are pioneering a new product category and unique digital health workflows (e.g. COVID-19 monitoring). You will thrive here if you enjoy the opportunity to tackle ambiguity and scope out new use cases. You won’t be a fit here if you expect everything to already be figured out.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Since you will be engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders, from clinicians to IT staff.
Nice to have:
  • Software technical background, such as:
  • Computer Science Degree
  • 1-2 years experience as a Software Developer
  • Experience working on enterprise software products
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and EHR integrations
Why is SeamlessMD a great place to work?
  • You’ll be at the forefront of healthcare innovation. This is an opportunity to work with the world’s top health systems and help them succeed with the latest digital health technologies.
  • You’ll make a positive impact on the lives of patients. It is incredibly rewarding to hear regular feedback from patients on how SeamlessMD has improved, and sometimes saved their lives. SeamlessMD is even more important to help providers care for patients virtually during COVID-19.
  • You’ll get company stock options. We want you to have the opportunity to be an owner in the company.
  • You’ll have health, dental, vision and long-term disability benefits. We want to invest in your health and well-being.
  • You’ll get parental leave top-up. Family is important to all of us - and starting one requires a lot of time and attention!
  • You’ll have access to a full kitchen with snacks and beverages. We do bi-weekly snack/beverage orders so there is always something to eat!
  • You’ll be invited to monthly team socials. We love team bonding. Every month we host a variety of team socials that range from: Trivia night, ping pong at SPIN, movie nights, Blue Jays games and more!
