The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluates accounting and internal control systems, and leads departmental staff. The full-time Controller position is situated in the Ottawa, Ontario area.

Key responsibilities

- Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
- Respond to items beyond formal job responsibilities
- Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation
- Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash
- Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls, and most methodologies
- Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning, and implementation, as needed
- Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team
- Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
- Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
- Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
- Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
