GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive Quarterly goals to meet objectives.
  • Monitor APQP activities to ensure quality of the event.
  • Develop characteristic maps and control plans.
  • Track and report status of SPC, CMM and in process Gauge development- Design, Quote/Procurement, Validation
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Monitor and drive accountability to the Magna Closures Launch Readiness process.
  • Aid to develop stronger PFMEA and Control plans and hold teams accountable for continuous improvement
  • Develop and implement systemic improvement plans to improve internal and external quality issues from both customers and suppliers.
  • Responsible for providing leadership; instilling a sense of urgency; and driving problems towards resolution to ensure that quality systems, procedures and instructions meet Customer requirements, Autosystems objectives, and regulatory compliance
  • Direct and drive 8D problem solving teams for Customer-related quality issues, including tracking, reporting, problem solving issues; retain and maintain records as required;
  • Validate the implementation and effectiveness of customer related corrective actions to ensure a timely implementation.
  • Develop relationships with personnel from major OEM's; other QA Managers/Directors/ Management within Corporate in addition to Magna production associates
  • Assist in the statistical process control improvements with manufacturing and supplier base;
  • Drive year over year continuous quality improvement;
  • Ensure enforcement of Customer Specific Requirements and compliance;
  • The ability to build, strengthen, and maintain relationships with customers at all levels
  • Travel to customer sites as required. (i.e. presentations, corrective actions reports etc);
  • Communicate effectively with customers on issues regarding Product Quality, including but not limited to the containment, root cause, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure Best Practices are followed throughout the Design Process.
  • Conduct process audits to ensure accuracy of paperwork and inspection aids are present meeting the line process flow. (i.e. changes made from Engineering Changes, Corrective Actions or Process Changes)
  • Ensure that the requirements of the Control Plan are being fulfilled. (i.e. Control methods are being followed as documented, equipment is monitored as per the Control Plan)
  • Support Training when necessary. (i.e. boundary samples, quality alerts, spc etc.)
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities for production.
  • Support for FTT (First time through) failures and scrap reduction initiatives as it relates to reduction in Risk Priority Numbers. (RPN). Support and drive as required.
  • Documentation Review for accuracy and timely completion of all quality programs and systems (i.e. quality alerts, process flow, PFMEA, Control Plans
  • Participate in pre-launch programs with regards to design and specifications required.
  • Ensure that the requirement to control the product is being fulfilled. (i.e. equipment, procedures, personnel and establishing boundary samples)
  • Timely closure of Engineering Changes Action Items to ensure program deliverables are met.
  • Responsible for Management of the containment activities both internal and external. Report out of findings, and the implementation of corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Responsible to improve dimensional accuracy and maintaining customer required capability
  • Develop work plans including timelines to drive dimensional capability to meet the customer requirement
  • Assess manufacturing issues to ensure quality systems/error proofing is not compromised (process deviation)
  • Support the shop floor with training, and documentation needs for dimensionals.
  • Review component drawings and understand the application requirements for each component. Understand all performance and engineering specifications applied to the parts.
  • Maintain records. (i.e. drawings, Eng. Level etc.)
  • Maintain control of customer rejected parts in the plant Hold Area as per Nonconforming Material Process (NCM).
  • Review Warranty returns, follow up communications with customers and provide analysis of data as required along with corrective actions and containment
  • other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post Secondary Diploma /Degree in a technical field or equivalent required;
  • ASQC Certified Quality Engineer/Certified Auditor, Certified Quality Manager an asset;
  • Minimum 5 years experience in automotive OEM or Tier 1 required;
  • Lean Manufacturing experience required, formal training, an asset
  • Possess /Develop a strong understanding of: Core Tools (APQP, SPC, MSA, FMEA & PPAP), Control Plans/Process Flows, Root Cause Analysis/Practical Problem Solving, & GD&T;
  • Proficient in and learning Business Operating Systems (i.e.TS16949, IMDS, QSI, Supply Web, Customer Requirements, Trans4M etc.);
  • Knowledge of various processes (i.e. moulding, coating, assembly etc.);
  • Knowledge of basic concepts of design output, metrology and instrumentation.
