Would you like to work for a global insurance firm that has become the world’s leading market for specialist insurance & reinsurance. Our client is seeking a Manager, Statutory Reporting to assist the President and the Head of Finance – Americas Region in meeting objectives concerning the statutory financial and tax reporting for our client’s Canadian licensed business, management and security of the society’s assets.

In doing so, the Manager, Statutory Reporting will be responsible for:
* Leading the process for producing the statutory reporting for Canada.
* The Annual and Interim Report publishing audited results in line with IFRS.
* Maintaining Accounting Policy and Procedures and ensuring these are compliant with reporting requirements and anticipating changes required.
* Supervising the monthly accounting processes, including month, quarter and year-end close for the assigned operations - ensuring that all balance sheet reconciliations are prepared in line with timetable, reviewing work prepared and resolving issues in a timely manner.
* Supervising and maintaining the Underwriters ledger structure to ensure effective financial control, efficient processing, and reporting of Underwriters financial position on a monthly basis.
* Liaising with stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of the financial accounting and reporting process.
* Contributing to an open and transparent culture of risk management and demonstrating a strong awareness of the risks that should be managed within the responsibilities of the role.
* Seeking process efficiencies and enhancements and providing support to team members.
* Proactively identifying and reporting risks and implementing controls necessary to mitigate those risks.
Our client is seeking very specialized skills for this role. All applicants must meet the criteria below and are required to have:
* A CPA designation with a background in preparing statutory financial statements.
* A University degree (preferably in Accounting).
* 8+ years of experience working for a P&C Insurance or Reinsurance firm.
* Strong P&C 2 filing experience (OSFI), in addition to IFRS 17 and US GAAP.
* Experience with Statutory accounting principles applicable to Canadian P&C returns.
* The ability to interact with provincial and federal (OSFI) regulators.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong analytical and project management experience and the ability to analyze and interpret complex data and information.
* Excellent technical and Microsoft Office Suite skills.
