CBC Digital Products is looking for a Senior Developer - QA Engineering, to join the Web Experience Team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a group using JavaScript and REACT to build, test, and support our largest digital product for tens of millions of Canadians. You will have the chance to apply your automation testing skills, with a focus on UI, and be part of the team adopting Cypress. How you will make an impact: 

You have experience in Automation QA and have a solid Manual QA base. Or, you are a Developer with a QA mindset looking to apply and build upon your skills in: 

  • Creating end-to-end user-facing products with an emphasis on discoverability, engagement, and personalization on our prominent sites such as CBC.ca, CBC’s News, Sports, etc. 
  • Understanding the importance of accessibility and knowing what it takes to meet the needs of all users.

What you bring to our team:

  • The education and experience. You possess a degree (BA, BSc) or diploma in a Software Development, Science or Engineering related discipline, delivered by a recognized learning institution. You have 3+ years in an automation development role designing, setting up, and enhancing test automation frameworks, approaches, and strategies. You have experience in automating testing of high-traffic media-rich websites, including performance, load, functional and non functional testing.
  • The innovation. You prioritize embedding quality and testing as part of the overall product development cycle, and you have a demonstrated ability to drive improvements on overall quality processes, including developing and monitoring quality standards and measurements.
  • The knowledge. You have a deep understanding of the mechanics of automation, when and what to automate versus test manually, and you can confidently advocate for QA. You are comfortable working across teams to lead and drive adoption of  a quality mindset and practice quality engineering. 
  • The bonus skills. You may have exposure to test automation for a variety of deployment environments, devices and platforms (Cypress experience is preferred), developing test pipelines in a CI/CD/CT environment as well as using Javascript and React.
