IT Infrastructure Support Technician

Location: Calgary, AB

Reporting to the Director, IT Operations, the IT Infrastructure Support Technician is responsible for implementing, supporting and delivering IT infrastructure and services to Pacific Western Transportation group of companies. You will also assist with various infrastructure projects, maintenance and respond to escalated service desk tickets. Your responsibilities will include sharing 24x7 support duties for the production environment and maintenance windows to ensure that infrastructure is operating at optimal levels.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist Service Desk and support team
  • Follow standards and processes
  • Second level support escalation for IT infrastructure incidents
  • Administer backups of systems and servers
  • Plan and implement server upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor supplied patches
  • Actively participate in monthly server maintenance windows
  • Implement and support IT infrastructure solutions, including process and efficiency improvements
  • Update status of current projects including issues, deliverables and timelines
  • Transition support documentation to IT Service Desk
  • Continuous improvement in technology and processes
  • Shared 7x24 on call - corporate mobile device(s) provided
  • Occasional site visits to facilities across Canada


  • Completion of a post-secondary IT degree or diploma program
  • 3+ years of progressive experience as a Server or Network Administrator/Analyst in a medium to large enterprise
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong technical skills in the following areas:
    • Microsoft Windows Server environment
    • Microsoft Office365 Administration
    • Microsoft SCCM Administration
    • Microsoft SharePoint
    • Microsoft Teams
    • BlackBerry Enterprise Server (iOS device management)
    • Microsoft Active Directory, Azure Active Directory
    • IT security
    • Citrix XenApp
    • Virtualization (VMWare)
    • Networking in LAN, Wi-Fi, WAN and data center environments
    • VOIP, telecom and mobile communications
