Who we need

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, and in response to restructuring, we are adding a Senior Accountant to our Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a company with purpose, servicing communities across Canada. You will perform various accounting, administrative and clerical tasks preparing and assisting in the preparation of several financial statements, notes to the statement and key information. You will also prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis to support the monthly Corporate close process.

Who you are

You are an experienced Accountant looking for a step up to Senior Accountant. You want to work side-by-side with the Accounting Manager building out a resilient and thriving organization. You are looking for an opportunity to spearhead challenging initiatives inclusive Cash Flow forecasting, national and local budgeting, tax management and compliance work.

What you will do

  • Sales support. You will assist in posting of sales information for all Motion Specialties locations.
  • Lead. You will own the reconciliation process including A/R, unearned revenue, intercompany, and payroll.
  • Reporting and transactions. You will prepare accounting entries including journals, month-end schedules and postings. You will assist in month-end/year-end closings and annual external audit.
  • Collaborate. You will work closely to assist the location managers with their financial decision- making analysis and processes.
  • Tax preparation. You will prepare and file GST/HST returns and assist with tax reporting.

 

What you bring

  • Education. You have a Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance. You have completed or are pursuing a professional accounting designation (CPA – CA, CMA, CGA).
  • Experience. You have 3-5 years in a General Accounting role including experience in handling a full set of books and records, and inventory reporting. You have extensive knowledge of:
    • International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
    • Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
    • Accounting fundamentals
    • Income and Provincial commodity taxes.
    • You have excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Drive. You are well organized with the ability to keep meticulous records and filing systems. You are a self-motivated and energetic problem solver.
  • Relationship skills. You are a contributing team player who thrives in a fast paced environment. And, you have a commitment to providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Technical skills. You are highly proficient with Word and you have advanced-level Excel skills. You have hands-on exposure to automated accounting systems and software, knowledge of Epicor and Microsoft Dynamics NAV is preferred.
  • Additional must-have requirements. You have a clean criminal background check and are bondable.
