Position Summary: The Ramp Agent’s position is a physical fast-paced and labor-intensive outdoors role which involves loading/unloading air containers and packages on and out of UPS aircrafts as well as operating ramp equipment such as K loaders tugs de-ice etc.

Job Type: Part-Time - Permanent Work Location: 9272 Airport Road Mount Hope ON L0R 1W0 (we are located behind the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum).


  • SUNDAY night | TUESDAY to FRIDAY mornings
  • Shift Duration: 3-6 hours per day

Shift Schedule:

  • Sunday - 5:15 PM to approx. 9:30 PM
  • Off Monday
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 04:00 AM to approx. 09:00 AM 
  • Off Saturday

**(Flexibility is required with both the start and finish times)**

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Load and unload air containers and packages on/off UPS airplanes
  • Marshall UPS airplanes and set up safety equipment around them
  • Learn and properly execute company-established air container/package handling methods
  • Operate ramp equipment and vehicles
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. (35kg) without assistance and lift/move 150 lbs. (68kg) with assistance.
  • Valid Ontario G2/G Driver’s License
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract showing:
  • No violations for the current year (last 12 months) and no more than 2 violations for the previous 3-year period (last 36 months)
  • No accidents and maximum 5 demerit points for the previous 3-year period (last 36 months)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment
  • Comfortable working outdoors and staying longer than the usual shift hours depending on the operational needs and shipment volume
  • Warehouse and/or airport experience (would be considered an asset)

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $16.10/hr (base rate of $14.25 + an hourly bonus of $1.85) and automatic wage progression as per the existing Union Collective Agreement
  • Tuition reimbursement of up to $1500 per semester (conditions apply)
  • Health and dental benefits after 12 months of employment (commences on the first day of the month after meeting the requirement)

  • A union initiation fee of $50 (will be deducted after completing 90 working days with UPS)
  • A criminal background check fee of $20.50 (will be deducted from your Human Resources Orientation pay and reimbursed after 90 working days with UPS)
  • Must supply your own steel toe safety shoes/boots with non-slip rubber soles

Working Conditions:

  • Exposed to changing/extreme weather temperatures while working outdoors on the ramp and/or around the aircrafts (hearing protection and a safety reflective vest will be provided).

  • In our industry this position is also known as Ramp Handler Ramp Attendant Terminal Operations Assistant etc.
