Job description

Working for Buchanan Technologies at a key higher education client to assist with audiovisual activities, deploy hardware and software, and resolve hardware failings in support of the institutions’ students, staff, suppliers, and guests.

Contract position: 4 to 5 weeks 

Shift: Monday to Fridays with coverage from 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Focuses on audio-visual solutions and platforms, and integrated endpoints in learning, meeting room, and huddle spaces.
  • Helps to maintain and support the audio-visual systems used in learning spaces, open spaces, and administrative areas.
  • Includes computers integrated into the AV systems, and printers in the same areas.
  • Help to maintain the standards set by the Senior Audio-Visual Solutions Engineers, receive guidance from them, and use them as a point of escalation for technical issues and questions.
  • Monitoring, responding to, and resolving service requests
  • Working with colleagues and clients to find root causes of issues and permanent solutions
  • Carrying out repairs and replacements
  • Providing instructional training to clients as needed
  • Logging activities as tickets in a tracking tool: BMC Remedy
  • Identifying areas requiring improvement and working with the engineers to help develop solutions
  • Liaising with colleagues in ITS and Facilities, as well as vendors and contractors
  • As the technician becomes more knowledgeable about the work he or she is doing, they may take on additional responsibilities with respect audio-visual.

Experience Required:

  • Possess a post-secondary degree/diploma or equivalent with work experience in the audio-visual arena and IP networks.
  • Possess strong troubleshooting and repairing skills with audio-visual systems and IP networks, have an attention to detail and ability to understand and follow instructions, technical acumen, customer service, communication with all levels, and being highly organized.
  • Ability to multitask operational work with priority incidents running in parallel.
  • Certifications in CTS; IP networks; Audio-Visual, PC, printer and network troubleshooting; ITIL best practices are assets
