Production Superintendent job in Calgary at Pride in Personnel

The Production Superintendent position is an integral member of the site leadership team responsible for improving production and reliability processes to optimize efficiency, productivity, reliability, cost, quality, safety and customer service while focusing on the people relationships required to achieve results. 

This position requires exceptional people, project and time management skills complimented by a collaborative leadership style with an open approach to communication.  A continuous improvement outlook and fact based decision making drive the completion of actionable tasks from the production teams.   

Key Responsibilities: 

• Provides leadership and coaching to production supervisors and employees to meet all safety, environmental, quality, cost and service goals and objectives.

• Responsible for implementing safety and environmental initiatives in partnership with the plant leadership team.

• Partners with Quality Control as team to ensure that finished product meet all customer requirements through continuous improvement and utilization of the plant quality management system.

• Partners with the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure equipment reliability at optimal efficiency and cost.

• Provides leadership and support to the overall reliability strategy including the involvement of production employees in preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.

• A partner with the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor to assure that the manufacturing schedule is optimized and make adjustments as necessary to provide required levels of service to our customers in the most cost effective manner.

• Provides coaching and leadership to maintain a highly engaged workforce.  Partners with HR in areas of performance management, employee involvement, organizational change, staffing and employee development.

• Ensure effective collaboration with the Logistics team to fulfill customer needs.

• Provides leadership to drive continuous improvement through the application of Lean Manufacturing concepts such as Kaizen events working directly with the production and maintenance teams.

• Establish and build strong relationship with the Union. Participates in grievance procedures as required. Fosters a productive labour relations climate.

• Manages and assures all employee training (quality, safety, process, etc.) is effective and completed.

• Mentors immediate direct reports and establishes an effective team that is accountable and capable to achieve all performance goals.

• Assures plant housekeeping meets company standards and implements and maintains a 5S program to sustain improvements.
