Account Manager-Pickering/Ajax
Job Description

RESPONSIBILITY: To develop sales and profitability by

selling electrical products to both new and existing customers.




Provide sales/profit.

- Monitor performance against targets/forecasts

- Work with the Manager to achieve sales/profit and targets

- Maintain regular contact with ALL customers.

Identify potential new business.

- Gather information on the market and customers and provide feed back to the


Strictly adhere to credit limits set by the Manager

- Maintain debtor days at the company target.

- Minimize the potential of any bad debt

- Provide support on cash collection

- Regular analysis of customers throughout the month

- Regular communication with Manager and the Credit Department

Follow the company diary program on a daily basis

- Maximize quality selling time in front of customers

Ensure all reports required are done on a timely basis for the Manager

- Supply Manager with information on activities each day, i.e. successes,

failures, targeted accounts, sales calls, areas of potential, etc.

- Review Account Manager’s Report each month noting sales and position within the company.

- Verify information on the Account Managers Report to ensure % age of

branch sales is accurate.

- Ensure sales presenters/market sector binders are always up to date

- Ensure availability of interesting new products in the sample case at all times

- Know your customer, thus enhancing selling opportunities

- Contribution and Distribution of the monthly newsletters

- Research branch area for new businesses.

- Determine potential spend of the customer

- Develop existing accounts by getting to know their needs and wants

- Develop relationships/gain customers trust

-  Maximize the customers potential spend

- Swap/substitute “in-house” products when and where, and as often as possible

- Identify products that have the most potential, and make joint sales calls with the

supplier, including ‘in-house” products

Identify all non-trading accounts

- Research the customer

- Develop relationship with ultimate aim of renewing trading of dormant accounts

- Follow up on any call leads provided by the Customer Care Department

Targets will be set for new accounts

- Ensure continuous research for new business

- Educate self about potential customers by reviewing website in advance

- Ensure new accounts along with the all other relevant forms are completed in full

and signed by the customer

- Ensure completion of the additional Customer Information Form to familiarize self

with sale opportunities and potential that exist from new customers

- Review Branch Cash Sales for potential leads

Ensure a good understanding of what stock is held at the branch to enable to

‘sell from stock’ and help enhance branch profits

- Ensure a good understanding of In-House products to enable to switch sell and

assist in enhancing branch profits

- Review aged/slow moving inventory to identify any potential customer needs for these items - if item written down, could

represent a good margin opportunity

- Identify opportunity

Review invoices on a daily basis ensuring every opportunity is taken to maximize


- Review and follow up quotations daily.










Job Requirements

    • Ideally, two to five years of total sales or related experience within the electrical industry.
    • Outgoing,aggressive personality required.
    • Post secondary education preferred.
