Entry Level Sales Representative – Account Manager

We are currently seeking intensely motivated and passionate individuals to serve as Inside Sales Representatives with our Toronto-based international conferences division. 

You will sell our conferences to businesses in the Capital Markets, Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Legal and Energy sectors, both here in North America and internationally. We will provide you with comprehensive ongoing training to familiarize you with our products as well as with all aspects of the sales cycle. From there, your success will be driven by your personal motivation, persistence, and ability to connect with prospective clients. 

We offer one of the highest commission structures in the industry, and your first-year earnings should average $45,000 to $55,000, with the potential to grow into a six-figure income. Entry Level Sales Representative – Account Manager (Business Development)

Job Responsibilities:

As an Inside Sales Representative, you will work as part of a small three-person team, selling a specific conference over the course of a three month period. As our conferences cover such a wide range of topics, you will also develop your own knowledge about each specific topic to increase your credibility with prospective clients – making this a valuable educational experience in addition to a lucrative sales career!

Your specific duties in this role will include:

  • Identifying qualified prospective clients and developing loyal customer relationships
  • Generating and following up on leads through intensive business-to-business cold calling (an average of 120 calls each day)
  • Making effective telephone presentations to prospective clients, clearly communicating the competitive advantage that attending our conferences will bring to their businesses
  • Researching and deepening your subject knowledge of conference topics
  • Closing new business
  • Meeting or exceeding all performance goals on a consistent basis
  • Thoroughly and accurately recording all sales information

Entry Level Sales Representative – Account Manager (Business Development)

Job Requirements:

As a successful Inside Sales Representative, you must be a true “hunter" type with a tremendous amount of motivation and drive to earn, as well as having a commitment to actively produce results. If you are the type of person who can dive right in and immediately begin producing results, and who thrives under pressure in a fast-paced sales environment, you are exactly who we’re looking for.

Specific qualifications for the role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong cold-calling and prospecting skills
  • Internet and social media savvy
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Great closing skills
  • Solid research skills
  • A confident, positive, and disciplined attitude
  • Ability to easily handle rejection
  • Excellent telephone skills and the motivation to make 120 calls or more per day
  • 2-3 years’ work experience a plus


Sales Representative Core Competencies / Skills:

  • Excellent verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to identify qualified, prospective clients and develop loyal customer relationships via telephone within an assigned market.
  • Develop/build your own client base – utilizing proven sales techniques including: Internet research, prospecting, probing, lead generation, cold calling and closing.
  • Consistently being able to persuade the customer into a "positive" buying commitment decision – "closing" skills.
  • Able to clearly present the customer with the key benefits of attending the event, while also focusing on the customer's individual needs.
  • You are not intimidated by the challenge of contacting top, executive-level decision makers.
  • You should be self-motivated and commission driven.
  • Demonstrate drive, persistence and the ability to meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Ability to function independently in a team environment.
  • Having previous successful experience in an inside sales environment (is a definite asset). However, candidates who indicate a strong desire to develop their sales skills in order to succeed in a corporate sales environment will also be considered.
