Journeyman Technician

Working in accordance with OH&S Safety Regulations, Government Inspections Standards, and company rules, the Journeyman Technician will be working alongside Operations Personnel, Company Drivers, and fellow workers. The Journeyman Technician will be responsible for ensuring the utilization of shop facilities, equipment, maintenance and efficiency, and safety of buses serviced.

Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Journeyman Technician Certification (Heavy Duty)
  • 2 - 5 years related experience desired
  • Valid Driver's License (Class 5 with an air brake endorsement)
  • No more than 3 demerit points on license
  • CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License desired
  • Exposure to working on diesel engines
  • Analytical problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and understand parts and service manuals in English
  • Proficient with computer equipment
  • Health & Safety Knowledge - OH&S rules and regulations guidelines
  • CNG experience considered an asset

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Daily maintenance of the Squamish/Whistler Transit fleets
  • Diagnose equipment problems
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Work with Shop Management to maintain schedules and priorities
  • Perform semi-annual Government Inspections
  • Follow procedures and guidelines
  • Perform procurement of parts and materials
  • Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
  • Suggest areas for additional training and assist with training of apprentices
  • Attend company training programs as required
