Attridge Transportation has grown from 2 taxis, and a station wagon servicing handicapped children to a fleet of 7 highway coaches, over 500 school bus vehicles and 3 locations servicing both private and public district school boards in Hamilton-Wentworth, Dufferin-Peel and Halton regions of Ontario.

Attridge Transportation began on October 1, 1976, when Jim Attridge purchased Waterdown Taxi -- a small company consisting of two taxis, and a station wagon used primarily for transporting special-needs school children.

The company grew rapidly within the first two years as Attridge expanded from two taxis to 12, and from the one station wagon to four. In addition, because of expanded school runs, Attridge bought a small-sized school bus in 1979 to supplement the other vehicles. The company was incorporated as Attridge Transportation in 1980, at which time it boasted a fleet of 20 school vehicles.

From this time forward, Attridge focused on the school bus industry. Its work continued to multiply as special-needs children increasingly required transportation with a highly personalized touch.

Indeed, Attridge's drivers are selected and trained for their ability to give the children the extra time and care they require.

Attridge Transportation has aggressively pursued diversification as well. It currently offers special school-charter day trips, and, furthermore, the company currently operates nine highway coaches for public chartered excursions. The company has also been authorized as a licensing depot by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, allowing it to administer vision, written and road tests for its drivers.

Outgrowing its Waterdown office, in 1990, Attridge opened a Burlington office of 2,000 square feet, and a 10,500 square-foot shop for vehicle maintenance and repair.

Attridge Transportation continues to maintain its high safety standards combined with the personal touch it has come to be known for, and now operates a fleet of over 500 school bus vehicles. With this fleet, the company currently provides safe transportation for school children in both private and public district school boards in Hamilton, Wentworth, Dufferin, Halton, and Peel regions of Ontario -- and no doubt its responsibilities will continue to grow in the future.
